Hang Dallas Launches to Give Dallas Artists What They Actually Need

New artist services company debuts with public event series The Hang Theory, opening July 22 at Times Ten Cellars

DALLAS, TX, July 14, 2026. Hang Dallas, a new artist services and events company, officially launches this month with a simple premise: Dallas has plenty of artists and plenty of art lovers, and not enough infrastructure connecting the two.

Founded by fine art photographer Christina Trester and Jorge Herrera, an operations veteran who previously ran the Dallas Handmade Arts Market, Hang Dallas operates on two fronts.

  1. An artist membership program gives working artists practical support, exhibition opportunities, business resources, community.
  2. A public event series called The Hang Theory brings artists and audiences into the same room through talks, workshops, and gatherings built around how creative people actually see the world.

"Dallas artists don't need another pep talk. They need walls, audiences, and someone handling the logistics," said Trester. "That's the job. We do the unglamorous parts so artists can do the good part."

The Hang Theory opens Tuesday, August 4 at Times Ten Cellars with "How Neiman Marcus Shaped the Cultural Identity of Dallas," presented by Larry Leathers, who spent more than three decades inside the retailer's creative culture. Leathers rose through the Neiman Marcus visual department beginning in 1981, worked on projects commissioned by Stanley Marcus himself, and later returned to design the store's celebrated downtown Dallas holiday windows. His talk argues that Neiman Marcus was never really in the business of selling clothes. It was in the business of selling ideas, and it taught a young city how to see.

The series continues Wednesday, August 19 with "QAnon: When Conspiracy Theory Becomes Faith Online," presented by Steven Monacelli, the investigative journalist named Best Reporter of 2025 by D Magazine and winner of the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award. Monacelli, whose reporting has appeared in Rolling Stone, WIRED, and the Texas Observer, examines how one of the internet age's most significant conspiracy movements blurred the line between political ideology and religious belief.

Both events begin at 6:30 PM at Times Ten Cellars. Tickets are $25 at events.hangdallas.com and include a complimentary glass of wine or beer for guests 21 and up.

"The range is the point. One month it's how a department store taught Dallas to have taste, the next it's how a conspiracy theory became a religion," said Herrera. "Interesting people are interested in more than one thing. We just put them in a room together."

Future Hang Theory events will be announced at hangdallas.com and on Instagram at @hang.dallas.

About the Founders

Christina Trester, Co-Founder Christina is a fine art wildlife and nature photographer who has been making pictures since she was thirteen. She left corporate America in 2022 after a trip to Kenya made the decision for her, and has since built a full-time practice spanning print sales, gallery exhibitions, and small-group photography expeditions across all seven continents. She knows the working-artist side of this business firsthand: the art fairs, the pricing conversations, the collector relationships, and all the unglamorous logistics in between. Hang Dallas exists because she spent years building that infrastructure alone and figured no one else should have to.

Jorge Herrera, Co-Founder and Managing Director Jorge spent more than two decades building operations that actually work, across enterprise companies like Aon and global service organizations spanning financial risk, tourism, and non-profit work. Before any of that, he ran the Dallas Handmade Arts Market, a weekly indoor marketplace on Cole Street that gave local artisans booths, foot traffic, and a real shot at selling their work. It also gave Dallas free wine on Saturdays, which we consider a public service. Hang Dallas is that idea, grown up. Artists deserve infrastructure, not just exposure. Jorge builds the systems, the logistics, and the boring-but-essential machinery so artists can focus on the part only they can do.
